Essential Firefox

Everyone has to spend the time compiling a list of their top Firefox addons. And we’re no different - except we like to think ours is the best ;)  So here’s our top list of web developer addons for Firefox.

Web Developer Toolbar

Adds a funky toolbar to Firefox with a massive array of features to help web developers in their quest to build the most super-amazing-whizz-bang sites on the net!

FirebugFirebug

Indespensible. If you haven’t used it you need to and like, NOW!! Firebug is great for inspecting a page, editing on the fly, profiling page loads, chekcing Ajax communications and much more.

MeasureIt

If you’ve ever wondered how big a block on the page is or you wanted to know how much to enlarge somehting so it fits in an area then MeasureIt can help. It enables you to draw a nice box on the screen giving you its dimensions.

ColorZilla

Find out the colour of absolutely any on-page elements and then get a copy of the #hex or RGB value.

HTMLValidator

It now does SGML and then HTML validation in series. Very comprehensive and I still learn from the plugin to this day.  Liek with YSlow below we like to put all of our client sites through this at completion.

YSlow

YSlow PluginThis is a profiling engine released by Yahoo for chekcing your page load times to find bottle necks and sort them out. It’ll also provide links to the Yahoo page on how to fix the issues it highlights.
Everyone of our sites gets the YSlow treatment.

Firecookie

Another great plugin for Firebug this one lets you edit and slice up cookies on the fly.  Great for debugging your sessions and cookie data.
